Project Proposal:

Bonding Souls

Sticking to my love for nature and spiritual connections, for my Integrating Activity project, I will draw and/or put together a collage with a series of posters/drawings, showing a connection that a human soul could have with animals and nature instead of a human one.

The second that the theme of connection was brought up in class I immediately thought of a connection with a soul that is not necessarily human. When one thinks of the word connection, they would most likely just assume that it is one with someone else, which is the reason why I wanted to step out of that thought process.

I will show how not all people can find a human to bond with as easy as others do, reminding us that to some, an animal soul or the presence of nature can be a positive, overwhelming and comfortable connection and environment for the individual, and might even make some people step out of their comfort zone and try to seek non-being relationships.

Something I find interesting is that when it comes to an attachment with another person, there are stages to it, but when it comes to a soul connection, it feels as if it goes through all those stages in a matter of seconds, which in most cases occurs with animals and for some a peaceful surrounding in nature.

There will be about 4-5 drawings/posters having a continuous small storyline that will as well be narrated by my friend, starting off with a young girl who has been abandoned, trying to find a human connection in society but constantly getting rejected, leading up to her connecting/ bonding with a fox (still not too sure of the animal being used) who guides her into the forest, expanding their soul link.

I am still deciding whether or not I want to draw it, make a digital collage or maybe even both, but I would need a digital software like Picsart or Photoshop for both and if drawn, blank papers and water colors. I want to incorporate lots of color towards the end and more dark shades in the beginning showing progress. Being in the ALC program with endless art options, I have had the chance to do digital art/animation or paper art with a pencil so I am not too worried about what I'll end up doing.

The project would be published as 4-5 illustrations in Jpeg. form or all in a file, and maybe each will have a title which could relate back to the theme of connection. I will also try to include any scraps or ideas that didn’t work out just to show somewhat of a progression in my work. I will take inspiration from a few artists (which I still need to research on) who are way more experienced with this vision and try to use the inspiration to help come up with my own.

Some inspiration art :)
